MAC Good Luck Trolls Beauty Powder in Glow Rida
(Limited Edition, $28 for 10g/0.35oz)
(Limited Edition, $28 for 10g/0.35oz)
Color: It's a warm peachy beige that leaves a subtle glow to the skin.
Formula + Application: The pigmentation is very sheer and works best as a highlighter for my NC30/35 skin tone. I recommend using a dense natural brush, such as the Sonia Kashuk #17 (comparison pictures), because dense natural hair tends to pick up and pack on powder products much easier.
I love pairing Glow Rida with matte blushes when I want a subtle sheen on my cheeks. It gives me just enough luminosity without looking too dewy or frosty for day-time office wear.
I love pairing Glow Rida with matte blushes when I want a subtle sheen on my cheeks. It gives me just enough luminosity without looking too dewy or frosty for day-time office wear.
Longevity: It lasts at least 8 hours without fading when worn over foundation + setting powder. (I don't have issues with products lasting on my cheeks in general. I also have cheeks that are neither dry nor oily.)
MAC Bangin’ Brilliant Eyeshadow in I'm Into It ($16 for 1.5g/0.05oz) - This is a new shade and is being added to the permanent collection.
Color: It's a dark red brown with a matte finish. Makeup Geek's Bitten, Cherry Cola and MAC's Deep Damson are all lighter than I'm Into It. Also, Bitten pulls more red and is less matte, while Deep Damson pulls more purple. I'm Into It looks most similar to Cherry Cola when applied lightly because they both are more of a reddish brown shade.
I use all of these shades interchangeably and as a pop of color in my crease when I want to spice up a neutral eye look.
Formula & Longevity: MAC's eyeshadows are (1) very pigmented, (2) apply smoothly, (3) layer well and (4) blend easily. They last at least 14 hours without creasing when worn with a primer, such as the Urban Decay Primer Potion. For reference, I have oily lids and always pair eyeshadows with a primer.
Many other brands have eyeshadows that are very pigmented, but I experience alot of fallouts with those and I hit pan alot faster. One of the reasons why I keep repurchasing from MAC is because of the formula. I barely experience any fallouts during application with MAC eyeshadows and a little goes a long way.
MAC Cremesheen Lipstick ($17 for 3g/0.01oz) - Each tube has a secure cap that snaps shut rather than a magnetic closure.
Scent: They have a pleasant vanilla scent when I sniff directly from the tube, but don't taste like anything when worn on the lips.
Formula + Longevity: Even though I have extremely dry lips, the cremesheen formula feels very comfortable to wear and it actually feels more hydrating than the MAC matte and satin lipsticks (review). I like that they glide onto the lips smoothly without skipping and provide buildable, medium to full coverage with at least 3 and a half hours of staying power. (They last longer if you drink through a straw and don't eat.) They also leave a nice sheen without looking too glossy.
MAC Pro Longwear Lip Pencil ($21 for 1.2g/0.04oz) - They do not twist up. Instead, they need to be sharpened with a pencil sharpener.
- Posy Perfect is a rosey pink with a matte finish.
- Oh Honey! is a warm nude with a matte finish.
- Doubletime is a pinky brown with a matte finish.
- Staunchly Stylish is a pinky beige. It looks like it has a slight sheen when swatched, but it actually looks matte when worn on my lips.
Scent: They don't smell or taste like anything.
Formula: The lip liners have a creamy texture and excellent pigmentation. They also apply smoothly and prevent lipstick from feathering. I love using them as a base under sheer lipsticks.
Longevity: They last all day without fading or moving, even through meals and drinks. I have to use makeup remover to wash it off!
Note: The MAC Glow Rida beauty powder, I'm Into It eyeshadow, Cremesheen lipsticks, and Pro Longwear Lip Pencils are available at Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's and Saks.
