Review + Swatches - Chanel Sunkiss Ribbon Blush + Infiniment Illuminating Powder

Chanel Infiniment Illuminating Powder Sunkiss Ribbon Blush Swatch

You all know I bought the Chanel Sunkiss Ribbon blush and Infiniment Illuminating powder because of their gorgeous embossments. The big question is: Are they just nice to look at or do they wear nice on the skin as well?

Chanel Angled Mini Travel Brush Review
Packaging: Both products come in the same packaging, with a velvet pouch for the compact and a mini pouch for the travel brush, which is also included.

Both brushes have exactly the same size, shape and feel to it. The bristles are made of natural hair and feel soft. They shedded a few hairs and fluffed out after the initial wash, which is normal. I love that the bristles are not so densely packed and that the head is not too thin because it allows the brush to apply product evenly without any blotchiness. The angled tip also allows the brush to fit nicely on the cheek area. This has been my travel brush when I'm running late and need to apply my makeup "on the go." I've also been using it for contouring with my Kevyn Aucoin sculpting powder.

Scent: Both products have a rose scent, which I don't mind, but is worth mentioning for those who have sensitive skin. The smell is noticeable when I take a whiff of the pan, but it's not present during application.

Chanel Infiniment Illuminating Powder Review

Chanel Infiniment Illuminating Powder ($65 for 12g/0.42oz): This is limited edition outside of the US, but is permanently available in the US. The color pulls more peach on my NC30/35 skintone with a hint of pink. It leaves a very subtle highlight and is very sheer in color. Therefore, it's even suitable as an all over the face powder (which Chanel recommends). The product really enhances your complexion with a delicate brightening effect to the skin. I personally use it on my cheeks alone and it adds a touch of warmth to my skin that looks very natural. When I want to build more color, I use a dense brush like the Sonia Kashuk #17 Medium Multipurpose Powder brush ($17.99) because the bristles are able to pick up and pack on more product. It lasts about 8 hours on my cheeks when worn over foundation and setting powder.

Chanel describes the color as a peachy pink shade, so I thought of Milani Luminoso, which is more pigmented, shimmery, and unfortunately, not a dupe.

(All Colors Blended)

Chanel Sunkiss Ribbon Blush ($70 for 11g/0.38oz): This is limited edition and is from the LA Sunrise Spring 2016 collection. It comes with 5 different shades and translates into a pinky-coral on my skintone when I mix all the colors together. It pulls more coral when I concentrate the brush on the top 2 shades and more peachy pink on the bottom 3 shades. It also leaves a stronger sheen compared to the Infiniment Illuminating powder, but is still subtle enough to be considered natural.

The pigmentation is not too sheer or too pigmented. It'll give you just enough color with one layer and is easily buildable for those that prefer a more intense blush. The product applies smoothly onto the skin and creates a blended appearance with barely any effort. You don't need a special brush to apply it. The angled mini brush that's included works beautifully. (Just make sure you wash it in order for the bristles to fluff out and be able disperse product evenly.) As for longevity, the blush lasts about 10 hours on my cheeks when worn over foundation and setting powder.

Bottom Line: The Chanel Infiniment Illuminating powder is suitable for those who want a product that makes their skin look like their skin, but better. The Sunkiss Ribbon blush is ideal for those who want more color with the ability of creating a customized shade.
